TOURISM IS THE NUMBER ONE INDUSTRY ACROSS THE COACHELLA VALLEY. IN 2024, OVER 14.5 MILLION PEOPLE VISITED OUR DESTINATION, GENERATING 9 BILLION IN IMPACT. SO YOU CAN SEE THEY SPENT ABOUT $20 MILLION A DAY. SO IT'S REALLY A ROBUST, IMPORTANT INDUSTRY FOR OUR VALLEY. WE ALSO ARE WORKING ON A DESTINATION STEWARDSHIP PLAN. THIS WILL BE A TEN YEAR PLAN. SO 2026 THROUGH 2036 WE WENT THROUGH THE PROCESS. WE'VE ENGAGED PARTNERS. WE ACTUALLY HAD OUR KICKOFF CALL TODAY. BUT ONE OF THE THINGS THAT'S GOING TO BE UNIQUE WITH THIS PLAN IS WE'VE ACTUALLY ENGAGED THEM, AND WE'VE ADDED TO THE BUDGET TO INCLUDE NINE CITY SPECIFIC MASTER PLANS. SO THE TEAM WILL

BE WORKING WITH ALL OF YOU ON CITY COUNCIL AND CITY STAFF TO DEVELOP THE PLAN. WE'LL BE FUNDING IT, AND THIS WILL BE A PLAN THAT YOU'LL CREATE IN CONCERT WITH THEM. SO IT'S NOT US KIND OF TELLING YOU WHAT YOUR PLAN SHOULD LOOK LIKE AND HOW IT SHOULD BE REPRESENTED, BUT YOU'LL HAVE ACCESS TO THEIR RESOURCES, THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND THEIR EXPERTISE. SO WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THAT. IT'LL TAKE ABOUT A YEAR TO 14 MONTHS TO COMPLETE THIS MASTER PLAN ACROSS THE VALLEY, AND THAT WILL ROLL UP TO THE REGIONAL MASTER PLAN AS WELL. AND THEN RESEARCH. WE DO A LOT OF RESEARCH, SO WE DO A RESIDENT SENTIMENT STUDY KICKING OFF THIS YEAR. WE JUST FINISHED A VISITOR INTERCEPT STUDY THAT TOOK PLACE OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS. WE'LL HAVE THAT KIND OF ROLL UP ON THE 12 MONTH RESULTS. HOPEFULLY IN THE NEXT MONTH OR TWO. WE'LL CONTINUE TO DO ECONOMIC IMPACT STUDIES FOR 25 ON BOTH SHORT TERM RENTALS AND OVERALL TOURISM. AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO DO SOME OTHER SURVEYS ON RESTAURANT WEEK MEETINGS AND SO FORTH. AND THEN WE'VE ENGAGED A COMPANY CALLED ROVE WHICH WILL HAVE DASHBOARDS. SO EVENTUALLY HERE YOU'LL HAVE ACCESS TO REAL TIME DATA TO SEE KIND OF WHAT'S HAPPENING SPECIFICALLY IN CERTAIN AREAS. SO WE'RE EXCITED TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THAT FOR ANYBODY TO TAKE A LOOK AT. AND THEN PRIORITIES OF FOCUS. THIS IS WHERE THE JPA, THE JOINT POWERS AUTHORITY AND THE BOARD GET TOGETHER EVERY TWO YEARS AND BASICALLY GIVE US DIRECTION ON WHAT WE SHOULD FOCUS ON. THAT'S WHERE THE HOTELS AND VACATION RENTALS HAVE THEIR LOWEST OCCUPANCY POINTS. SO WE WANT TO GROW THAT. BUT WE'RE ALSO FOCUSING ON THE SHOULDERS AND OTHER TIMES OF THE YEAR AS WELL. SPORTS STRATEGY IS A TOP PRIORITY GOING FORWARD. WE HEARD THAT FROM NOT ONLY OUR PARTNERS BUT OUR COMMUNITY, AND WE SEE A LOT OF EVENTS GOING TO ARIZONA AND TO LAS VEGAS AND NEVADA AND SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. WE WANT TO GET CAPTURE SOME OF THAT DEMAND. SO WE'RE WORKING ON THAT. ONE OF THE TOPICS IS THE INDOOR SPORTS COMPLEX. SO WE'RE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW DO WE FUND THAT. WHERE DO WE LOCATE IT. WE DID DO A FEASIBILITY STUDY AND DAVIS WILL TALK A LITTLE ABOUT THAT AS WELL. BUT IT'S AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT, I THINK, THAT COULD BE USED NOT ONLY FOR THE RESIDENTS WHEN THE TOURNAMENTS AREN'T IN, BUT THE TOURNAMENTS CAN DRIVE NEW BUSINESS FOR THE DESTINATION AS WELL. WE'LL CONTINUE TO FOCUS ON SUSTAINABILITY, CULTURAL HERITAGE, ACCESSIBILITY, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND OF COURSE, ADVOCACY IN SACRAMENTO AND WASHINGTON DC. SO ONE OF THE AREAS THAT WE DO WORK ON WITH THE AIRPORT IS TRYING TO INCREASE FLIGHTS TO THE DESTINATION. THE MARKETING TEAM ALSO WORKS ON MARKETING IN THOSE DESTINATIONS TO MAKE SURE THE LOAD FACTORS ARE STRONG. IF YOU ARE, I THINK COUNCIL MEMBER VIRGIN, WE WERE JUST IN DC JUST RECENTLY. I DON'T KNOW IF YOU FLEW THE DULLES FLIGHT AT ALL. THE NONSTOP FLIGHT FROM FROM D.C. FROM FROM DULLES OUT OF DC TO HERE OR NOT. BUT WE WE WORKED WITH UNITED ON THAT TO TRY TO GIVE IT A NONSTOP, SEAMLESS SERVICE FOR YOU. WE ADDED NEWARK THIS YEAR WITH UNITED INTO NEW YORK CITY. SO THERE'S AN OPPORTUNITY THERE AS WELL. BUT WE DO WANT TO RECOGNIZE THOSE THAT ARE VISITING INTO THE DESTINATION. SO WE'RE GOING TO LAUNCH THIS LITTLE INITIATIVE WITH PARTNERS WHERE THEY CAN PUT THIS IN THEIR WINDOWS AND HAVE OTHER TOOLS AND RESOURCES THEY CAN ACCESS TO REALLY SAY THANK YOU TO THE ONES THAT ARE HERE, AND HOPEFULLY THEY'LL COME BACK IN THE FUTURE WHEN THINGS CHANGE.

AND SO WHEN WE LOOK AT THE IMPACT OF SHORT TERM RENTALS ACROSS THE COACHELLA VALLEY IN 2024, THAT EQUATED TO ABOUT 1.1 BILLION IN ECONOMIC IMPACT FOR THE REGION, 907 MILLION IN VISITOR SPENDING AND SIGNIFICANT TAX REVENUE GENERATION, AS WELL AS OVER 4000 JOBS SUPPORTED FOR THE CITY OF COACHELLA. SPECIFICALLY, THAT WAS ABOUT 33 MILLION IN VISITOR SPENDING, ABOUT 221 JOBS, SUPPORTED BY SHORT TERM RENTAL VISITORS, AND 5.4 MILLION IN STATE AND LOCAL TAXES, WHICH I LIKE. THE EXAMPLES DOWN THERE AT, EQUATES TO ABOUT 32 FIREFIGHTERS, 31 POLICE OR 71 TEACHERS. IN THE CITY OF COACHELLA, WE DO A VOTER SENTIMENT SURVEY ABOUT SHORT TERM RENTAL SENTIMENT ACROSS THE VALLEY. WE DID THIS IN 2023 BEFORE WE STARTED OUR LOCAL ONE COACHELLA VALLEY SHORT TERM RENTALS LONG TERM BENEFITS CAMPAIGN. WE UPDATED IT LAST YEAR IN SEPTEMBER AND THIS LAST YEAR, 86% REPORTED SUPPORTING SHORT TERM RENTALS IN THEIR CITY, UP FROM 77% IN 2023. SO A GREAT WORK BY ALL OF OUR CITIES REALLY ALSO IN REGULATING AND AND ENFORCING THOSE REGULATIONS ON SHORT TERM RENTALS TO CREATE BETTER ENVIRONMENTS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS. WE STARTED WORKING ON SOME ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, MARKETING, PROMOTION AND SALES ACTIVITIES.

IN 2025. WE LAUNCHED A WEBSITE, LINKEDIN CHANNEL, EMAIL NEWSLETTER, STARTED ATTENDING

TRADE SHOWS, HOSTED A TOUR ACROSS THE COACHELLA VALLEY WITH OUR CITY PARTNERS IN CONJUNCTION WITH ICSC WESTERN. WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE THOSE ACTIVITIES INTO THE NEXT YEAR, REALLY AMPLIFYING THAT BRAND AND MARKETING CAMPAIGN. WE ALSO ARE CHAMPIONING THE COACHELLA VALLEY REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN THAT WAS DONE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN. SO WE'RE GOING TO BE WORKING WITH OUR CITY PARTNERS ON WHAT ELEMENTS OF THAT MAKE THE MOST SENSE FOR US, THE RECOMMENDATIONS THAT WERE MADE IN THAT PLAN, FOR US TO SORT OF TAKE THE LEAD ON OR TO SUPPORT ONE OF THE TWO OF THE THINGS WE'RE LOOKING AT SUPPORTING IS A INDUSTRY ADVISORY BOARD FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR THE VALLEY, AS WELL AS BUSINESS RETENTION TASK FORCE. AND THEN WE'LL CONTINUE TO ATTEND EVENTS AND ATTRACT NEW BUSINESS TO THE COACHELLA VALLEY. SCOTT MENTIONED THE INDOOR AMATEUR SPORTS FACILITY. WE DID A FEASIBILITY STUDY IN 2024 AND THEN UPDATED IT AGAIN LAST YEAR WITH THE COMPANY CALLED SYNERGY SPORTS. JUST LOOKING AT THAT FEASIBILITY AND IT JUST SORT OF REINFORCED THAT, YES, THERE'S STRONG DEMAND FOR A REGIONAL FACILITY, REALLY A SUPER REGIONAL FACILITY HERE FOR INDOOR EVENTS LIKE BASKETBALL, VOLLEYBALL AND ESPECIALLY THE POTENTIAL FOR THIS TO DRIVE BUSINESS IN THE SUMMER MONTHS IN THE OFF PEAK PERIODS WHEN WE NEED THAT EXTRA VISITATION. SO THERE'S RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE SIZE. THERE'S SOME ANALYSIS ON THIS, ON THE ECONOMIC IMPACT FOR THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY.

AND THEN WE ARE GOING TO LAUNCH THE SECOND VERSION OF OUR LEADERSHIP TRAINING CERTIFICATE PROGRAM THAT WE HAVE WITH COLLEGE OF THE DESERT, CALLED VISIONARY LEADERS.
