THIS CAN BE DONE BY CANVASING RESOURCES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY AT LOCAL AGENCIES, ORGANIZATIONS, BUSINESSES AND OTHER ESTABLISHMENTS TO DETERMINE WHAT IS OFFERED AND AT WHAT CAPACITY. WHEN COMMUNITY RESOURCE MAPPING IS YOUTH DRIVEN, THE RESULTING MAP REFLECTS BOTH THE RESOURCES AVAILABLE AND THE RESOURCES THAT YOU CHOOSE TO ACCESS AND UTILIZE. SO WE WANT TO EMPOWER PEOPLE TO IDENTIFY WHAT THESE RESOURCES ARE. RESOURCES ARE. SO SOME COMMUNITY RESOURCE MAPPING CAPTURES A WIDE VARIETY OF COMMUNITY ASSETS THAT INCLUDE FORMAL SERVICES SUCH AS MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING, HOUSING ASSISTANCE, PHYSICAL HEALTH CARE, AND PHYSICAL HEALTH CARE SERVICES. COMMUNITY SUPPORTS LIKE WELLNESS CENTERS, PERFORMANCE ART SPACES, COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES LIKE SPOKEN WORD EVENTS, WELLNESS WALKS, AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS, AND MORE. WHAT DO YOU WHAT DO YOU THINK? THERE ARE SEVERAL STEPS TO RESOURCE MAPPING, AND OUR YOUTH COMMISSIONERS CAN LEAD THE WAY. IN EACH STAGE, WE MUST DEFINE THE COMMUNITY NEIGHBORHOOD AREA. SO FOR EXAMPLE, FOR US, WE WANT TO STAY WITHIN THE COACHELLA AREA BECAUSE WE'RE FOCUSING ON COACHELLA YOUTH. OKAY. BUT WE CAN ALSO, YOU KNOW, YOU GUYS COULD ALSO SAY NO, YOU KNOW WHAT? I WANT THE COACHELLA VALLEY, NOT JUST THE CITY OF COACHELLA. YOU KNOW, IF IF YOU KNOW. WE'RE VERY CAR CENTRIC. AND I THINK THE REASON IS THAT, YOU KNOW, WE'RE CAR CENTRIC BECAUSE IT'S SO HOT HERE MOST OF THE YEAR. IT'S PRETTY WARM AND WE'RE VERY SUNNY. MAYBE THAT INCLUDES, LIKE IN MEXICO, FOR EXAMPLE, THEY'VE DONE A VERY GOOD JOB AT LIKE NOT NECESSARILY BUILDING OUTSTANDING INFRASTRUCTURE, BUT WHAT THEY HAVE DONE IN MEXICO IS THAT THEY HAVE LITTLE STORES THAT ARE LIKE LITTLE MINI GROCERY STORES THAT ARE EMBEDDED IN THE COMMUNITY. SO IT MAKES IT EASIER FOR YOU TO WALK TO THAT LITTLE STORE, GET YOUR MILK OR GET YOUR BREAD, WHATEVER IT IS, SOME SMALL NEED. AND THEN YOU GO BACK TO YOUR HOUSE AND YOU CAN WALK AND IT'S EASY. YOU CAN SEND YOUR LITTLE BROTHER TO GO DO IT. YOU CAN SEND YOUR GRANDMA BECAUSE IT'S NOT FAR. BUT HERE IN COACHELLA, THE CLOSEST GROCERY STORE, WE'RE KIND OF IN A FOOD DESERT.
