I HOPEFULLY MOST OF YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE CV LINK IS, BUT FOR A QUICK BACKGROUND.CV LINK IS A 52 MILE MULTI-PURPOSE TRAIL GOES BETWEEN PALM SPRINGS AND THERMAL. THE SECTIONS IN COACHELLA ARE NEARLY COMPLETE. THESE ARE THE PICTURES FROM AVENUE 52. IT'S A SHADE STRUCTURE AND THE BENCHES THAT ARE ALREADY PLACED AT THE AVENUE 52 CONNECTOR. SO THAT'S LOOKING SOUTH. AND THEN IT ALSO PICTURE LOOKING NORTH. AND RIGHT NOW THEY ARE PLANNING ON HAVING ALL THE SECTIONS IN COACHELLA OPENED BY SUMMER OF 2025. FOR SOME BACKGROUND THE CV LINK. THEY ALSO, IN ADDITION TO THE FUNDING THAT THEY HAVE FOR THE CV LINK, THEY RECEIVED SOME SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING FOR WHAT THEY'RE CALLING THESE COMMUNITY CONNECTORS. AND THESE PROVIDE SHADE STRUCTURES AND REST AREAS, AND THEY'RE STRATEGICALLY PLACED THROUGHOUT COMMUNITIES. SO THEY'RE AT THE ACCESS POINTS WHERE PEOPLE CAN COME AND ACCESS THE CV LINK. NO, ORIGINALLY THIS WAS PLANNED AT THE INTERSECTION OF HERNANDEZ AND 52. SO ON BOTH SIDES OF AVENUE 52 WE HAVE THE UNDERCROSSING UNDER THE BRIDGE. WE HAVE THESE NICE TRAILS THAT COME TO THAT CORNER. AND WE HAD BEEN MOVING FORWARD AT THE PLANS AT THIS LOCATION, BUT I'D ACTUALLY DENIED THE PLANS BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO BUILD STRUCTURES IN UTILITY EASEMENTS. SO THIS ENTIRE AREA.
I GUESS MY MOUSE DOESN'T ACTUALLY WORK, BUT THE ENTIRE AREA ALONG THE FRONTAGE ON AVENUE 52, THERE'S A LARGE TRANSMISSION LINE. SO THE ENTIRE AREA RIGHT AT THE BACK OF SIDEWALK ALL THE WAY TO THE BLOCK WALL ABOUT 70FT BACK. THAT'S ALL IN THE EASEMENT. SO WE WERE NOT ABLE TO BUILD THE COMMUNITY CONNECTOR AT THAT LOCATION AS ORIGINALLY PLANNED.
WE HAD LOOKED AT POSSIBLY BUILDING IT UP ONTO THE VACANT LOT, BUT WE THOUGHT THAT WOULD BE A VERY POOR LOCATION BECAUSE WE DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE IT KIND OF HIDDEN BEHIND A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. YOU KNOW, 100FT AWAY FROM THE ROAD. WE THOUGHT THAT WOULD, YOU KNOW, JUST KIND OF ENCOURAGE IMPROPER USE OF THAT FACILITY. THEY DID HAVE THIS. NICE RENDERING THAT THEY DID. THIS WAS A RENDERING FOR THE INTERSECTION OF 52 AND HERNANDEZ. AND THIS IS STILL KIND OF THE CONCEPT OF WHAT WE WANT TO LOOK AT. SO THE CITY WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH CVAG TO COME UP WITH AN ALTERNATE LOCATION, AND THE LOCATION THAT WE IDENTIFIED WAS THE INTERSECTION OF AVENUE 52 AND SUNSET. THAT IS KIND OF A LITTLE BIT A WAYS FROM THE CV. FROM THE CV LINK CONNECTION POINT. BUT WE HAD TO IDENTIFY A POINT THAT WAS OUTSIDE OF ANY EASEMENT. SO WE DON'T HAVE THAT CONFLICT. AND ONE REALLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS LOCATION IS IT'S CENTRALLY LOCATED BETWEEN THE CLASS ONE BIKE TRAILS THAT WE ALREADY HAVE. SO WE HAVE THAT NICE CLAS, ONE BIKE TRAIL THAT'S ON SHADY LANE THAT GOES DOWN 53. WE HAVE THE PROPOSED THE ATP GRANT THAT WE GOT FOR THE CONNECTING COACHELLA. SO WE DO HAVE PLANS FOR CLASS ONE BIKE LANES ALL THE WAY DOWN. GRAPEFRUIT FROM 54 TO 48. AND THEN OBVIOUSLY THE CV LINK IS ON 52. SO WE THOUGHT THE INTERSECTION OF SUNSET AND 52 IS ACTUALLY A VERY KEY KIND OF CENTRAL LOCATION. RIGHT IN BETWEEN THE THREE PRIMARY CLASS ONE BIKE FACILITIES ALREADY HAVE. AND BY PLACING IT HERE, IT REALLY PUTS THE CITY IN A GOOD POSITION TO APPLY FOR FUTURE GRANTS. BECAUSE WE CAN HAVE THAT CENTRAL LOCATION WHERE WE'LL BE ABLE TO BRANCH OFF AND THEN APPLY FOR ADDITIONAL GRANT FUNDS TO HAVE THAT BE A NICE KIND OF BRANCH OFF LOCATION TO THE MULTIPLE TRAILS THROUGHOUT THE CITY. WHEN WE FIRST LOOKED AT HOW WE'RE GOING TO DEVELOP THIS CORNER AT SUNSET AND 52, THEY KIND OF JUST FIRST JUST TOOK THE ORIGINAL PLAN THAT WAS IN HERNANDEZ AND PLOPPED IT HERE.
AND STAFF HAS BEEN WORKING BACK AND FORTH WITH THEM TO IMPROVE UPON THIS DESIGN. SO ONE OF THE THINGS WE DID ASK IS THAT THE ENTIRE CORNER, ALL THE WAY OUT TO THE WALL, ALL BE LANDSCAPED.
